Best Blenders for Making Smoothies

Learn about the best blenders for making smoothies, and which one is right for you and your needs.

If you’re planning to make your own smoothies at home, you need a blender.

A blender for smoothies is the number one most important piece of equipment. You simply can’t make a smoothie without one.

So if you don’t own a blender, or don’t like the blender that you do own, where do you start?

Different Types of Smoothie Blenders

Blenders come in many different shapes, sizes, styles, and speeds, and it’s important to know your options before you grab the first blender you see.

Although there are an infinite number of different blenders out there, I like to group them in three distinct categories:

Not sure which one is right for you? Read on as I describe these categories in more detail...

Best Blender For YOUR Needs

There is really no one single “best blender” that works best for everyone.

I’m not going to tell you that the fanciest most high-end blender is the best for everyone….because even if it works amazingly well, but you can’t afford to buy it, it’s not really the best blender for you, is it?

At the same time, if you are looking for the absolute most powerful high-performing blender, you will not be happy with a basic blender that doesn’t perform well.

So the best blender for you depends on which category you align with most closely. Here is a simple breakdown of the different categories of smoothie makers.

Read through, decide which description fits you best, then click on that category to get my recommendations for the best smoothie blender for YOUR needs and budget level…

Low-Range (Budget-Friendly) Blenders

These are basic, affordable blenders with no bells or whistles.

They’ll do the job to make simple fruit smoothies and can also work for some green smoothies and superfood smoothies.

Using this blender might be a more laborious process. You most likely will need to use a step-by-step blending process to make sure the ingredients blend well and come out with a nice texture.

I recommend this type of blender for anyone who is just starting out making smoothies, or anyone concerned about budgetary constraints.

If you want to get started on a smoothie diet, but don’t want to break the bank, this type of blender is for you.

Mid-Range Blenders

A step above the basic budget-friendly blenders for smoothies listed above, these mid-range blenders are technically considered high powered “heavy duty” blenders.

I call them mid-range because they are more affordable than the ultra high performance blenders listed in the next category.

If you’ve already been making smoothies for awhile and want to take your smoothies to the next level, consider investing in a heavy duty blender.

As mentioned, it’s not impossible to make a great smoothie using one of the low-tech blenders above, and sometimes it’s the only option due to budgetary constraints.

But if you’re really getting serious about making smoothies, especially green smoothies or vegetable smoothies, you’ll find that the standard blender doesn’t always cut it.

You may eventually want a smoother, headache-free blending process, or the ability to add more ingredients and make higher volume smoothies.

High-End Blenders

The blenders listed above are the best smoothie blenders you can get without breaking the bank.

But maybe budget isn’t such a concern for you, and you want to know what the absolute highest quality blenders are, regardless of price?

This type of high performance blender is perfect for those who are moving to more “advanced” smoothie recipes…such as mixing several different superfoods, or making intense green smoothies with a high volume of tough to blend greens and other special smoothie ingredients.

Basic blenders just won’t cut it for these situations.

If that sounds like you, I recommend a high-powered blender.

You’ll find these to be similar to the mid-range options above, but higher-end, more powerful, and better quality along with extended product guarantees.

So What Is The Best Blender?

I know what you're asking yourself now...what’s the bottom line? Which is the best blender for smoothies after all?

There is no one single best blender.

The most important thing is that you choose a blender that works best for your needs and purposes, and that fits within your budget.

There’s a reason why I gave three ranges of best blenders.

You may have to do what I did…start at the lower range, with one of the most basic blenders possible (but not the absolute worst). Then gradually work your way up the ladder over time.

This will happen naturally as you get more serious about making smoothies and your smoothies evolve to include more complex and intense ingredients.

What I have done is listed the best options at the three different levels. It’s up to you to choose which one works best for your needs at this time :)
